BE NURTURED THROUGHOUT YOUR PREGNANCY

Acupuncture during pregnancy is not only clinically relevant to support symptoms associated with each trimester, but is vital to nurturing the mother before birth. From first trimester nausea, to second trimester insomnia and all the way through to prepping for birth, acupuncture provides a gentle, natural approach to supporting mum and bub through pregnancy.

Some of the ways I support you throughout pregnancy:

  • Support any symptoms related to the first trimester including nausea, fatigue and insomnia
  • Pain management including symptoms related to pelvic pain, lower back pain and hip pain
  • Birth preparation from 34 weeks to prepare you both physically and mentally for labour and birth
  • Labour induction treatments
  • Breech or alternative positioning presentation

Pregnancy is like a marathon, and parenting is the ultra-marathon. I see my role as being your race support team looking after you physically, emotionally and spiritually as your prepare to welcome your baby earthside.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    IS ACUPUNCTURE SAFE DURING PREGNANCY?

Acupuncture is absolutely safe during pregnancy when administered by an experienced practitioner. Acupuncture is often recommended by midwives and OBGYN’s towards the end of pregnancy to support birth preparation, and may also assist in breech or alternative positions.

    HOW OFTEN IS ACUPUNCTURE RECOMMENDED?

I recommend acupuncture weekly throughout the first trimester then monthly until 34 weeks at which point I recommend weekly appointments to assist in birth preparation. Of course, many of my patients choose to continue to see me weekly or fortnightly throughout their whole pregnancy.

    DOES ACUPUNCTURE HURT?

This is really dependent on each individual. Typically the style of acupuncture that I use for fertility treatments uses fine needle insertion, and does not hurt. You may experience sensations such as tingling, buzzing or notice movement through the body. If you are needle-phobic please let me know in advance and we can use extra fine needles, and I will work with you each week to slowly build our treatments. I treat many people that have needle phobia and ensure you feel safe at all times.
